A FEW HELPFUL TIPS

Hacks for some of the most common shirt care issues

HOW TO REMOVE ARMPIT STAINS?

Underarm stains are often caused by the reaction between anti-perspirant and sweat. Most anti-perspirants contain aluminium compounds. The aluminium builds-up and can cause yellowing on the fabric over time. We recommend to use aluminium-free deodorants or a deodorant with minimal aluminium.

To remove these yellow stains, mix equal part colourless dishwasher liquid detergent and citric acid, and dilute the mixture with a little cold water. Apply the mixture on the stain for ~20 minutes and rinse off with cold water and wash according to the washing instructions, found on the care label on the inside of the shirt.

MY SHIRT HAS TURNED YELLOW. HOW TO GET IT WHITE?

If your shirt has turned yellow, there are several ways of fixing the problem. The easiest way is to wash the shirt with a washing detergent with optical bleach (we normally don't recommend this for environmental reasons).

Alternatively you can soak the shirt in a mix of citric acid and soda for ~20 min. Hereafter wash the shirt according to the washing instructions.

DRY CLEANING RECOMMENDATIONS?

We normally do not recommend dry-cleaning due to the environmental impact (this does not apply for all cleaners). However, if needed then please instruct your cleaner to use light press and no starch. Do not press the shirt collar, cuffs and front placket, as it may cause the buttons to break.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
(IF YOU HATE IRONING)

1. Always unbutton the shirt and turn up the collar before washing.

2. Wash the shirt at a low spin (preferably 400 rpm).

3. As soon as your washing program is finished, hang the shirt wet
on a hanger and make sure to button the collar.

4. Stretch the cuff, collar and front placket softly.

5. Iron lightly at medium heat for an extra sharp look. Do not iron cuffs and collars on maximum heat and do not iron unless needed.

6. Always use washing detergent for coloured clothing, even for your white shirts. ”White” washing detergents may contain bleach, which can lead to discoloration.
